Dramexchange, the memory storage division of trendforce, a global market research firm, said that global DRAM output reached $10.8 billion in the second quarter of 2014, up 9% from the previous quarter. Due to the appropriate proportion of products, the profitability of the three DRAM factories has further increased. Among them, Samsung is still the best, with an operating profit of 39%, SK Hynix with 38%, and micron with a profit of 54.6%.

Korean manufacturers Samsung and SK Hynix share 39% and 27% respectively in the memory market, which together approach 70% of the global market share. Their influence can not be underestimated. Meanwhile, American manufacturers also hold nearly 26% of the market share, becoming the key to market price control. Under the situation of monopoly structure and tight supply, the overall DRAM market has also formed a market pattern in which prices are not easy to fall. Dramexchange estimates that the output value of DRAM in 2014 is expected to reach 46.8 billion US dollars, a significant increase of 36% compared with 2013.

Samsung's 25nm yield has reached about 85% in the second quarter. The output increases and the contract price continues to rise in the second quarter, with revenue increasing by 20%. Due to the process leading and cost decreasing, the operating profit reached 39% in the second quarter, which was the highest among the three DRAM plants. It is worth noting that Samsung line17 factory is under construction. It is expected that the mass production scale will be introduced at the beginning of the second quarter of next year, which will have a certain impact on DRAM prices.

Sk Hynix's Wuxi plant fully resumed commercial transformation in the first quarter, but there is still room for improvement in yield. In addition, as the company has just entered the new 25nm process, there will be a loss of production capacity in the initial stage, and the revenue will only slightly increase by 6%. However, with the continuous improvement of the subsequent 25nm production, there will be a substantial increase in revenue in the second half of the year.

As the capacity of Singapore tech plant was transferred to NAND related products in the second quarter of the year, meguang DRAM's revenue decreased slightly by 2% and the operating profit was 25.5%. At present, Meguiar mainly focuses on 30nm process, but 25nm process is actively moving forward. It is expected that 20nm process trial production can be introduced in the fourth quarter, and the mass production time point will fall in the first half of next year, so it has the opportunity to close the technical threshold with Korean manufacturers.

Although Hua Ya Ke has become a company of Meguiar group, due to its bargaining structure and focus on producing products with high gross profit, huayako has become the most brilliant manufacturer in DRAM plants. Not only does its operating profit reach 54.6%, but also technically it is the first factory in meguang group to mass produce 20nm process, leading all DRAM plants in Taiwan. In South Asia, production niche memory was the main axis, while standard memory cooperated with specific module factories. In the second quarter, the profit was still stable, with revenue growth of 2.5% and overall operating profit reaching 36%.

Huabang's sales of niche memory and small capacity mobile memory continued to grow, with overall revenue increasing by 10.5% in the quarter. In 2014, we focused on the continuous improvement of the process from 40K to 46nm, and the reduction of production cost resulted in the increase of operating profit to 9.3%. The revenue of DRAM increased by 20% in the second quarter, mainly due to the continuous growth of OEM business and the improvement of standard memory output. As P3 plant still has space to expand its production capacity, it is considering expanding its production capacity next year.
