Earlier today, Intel CEO Brian Krzanich made his debut at the IDF held in Shenzhen. In addition to celebrating Intel's 29th anniversary in China, Intel will launch its first Cat 6 multimode LTE solution XMM 7260 in the second quarter of this year. Compared with the XMM 7160, which only supports cat 4 LTE and 15 frequency bands, xmm7260 has increased the number of supported bands to more than 30. Besides 2G GSM, WCDMA and fdd-lte, China's TD-SCDMA and TD-LTE networks are also added. Using the carrier aggregation technology of Cat 6 LTE, the theoretical maximum speed of XMM 7260 can reach 300 Mbps, twice that of cat 4 LTE.
At present, there is no information to indicate who will be the first manufacturer to adopt this high-speed chip. However, on the spot, Krzanich used a prototype device to dial Skype to Lenovo CEO Yang Yuanqing. This should be a pretty obvious hint, right? Of course, this does not mean that Lenovo will abandon his old friend, MediaTek, after all, its own LTE solution will soon be launched!
